Cookie policy

This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies NXT OpenViz (“OpenViz”) uses, why we use them, and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our privacy policy.

This policy should be reviewed by a qualified legal professional before being relied on in production. The inventory in section 3 lists the cookies this deployment actually sets; if analytics or marketing tools are added later, add them here at the same time.

1. What are cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use them, and similar technologies such as local storage, to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. OpenViz does not use cookies for cross-site advertising.

2. Types of cookies we use

Strictly necessary (always on)

These let you sign in, stay signed in between requests, and keep your session secure. The service cannot run without them, so they are not presented as a choice and no consent is sought for them.

Analytics (off unless you turn them on)

These help us understand which pages are used so we can improve them. Nothing in this category is set unless you enable it.

Marketing (off unless you turn them on)

These let us measure whether an advert or campaign brought you here. Nothing in this category is set unless you enable it.

3. Cookie inventory

These are the cookies OpenViz sets.

We do not currently set any analytics or marketing cookies. The categories exist in the consent banner so that your choice is already recorded if we introduce them, and so nothing can start without it.

Local storage

We also use your browser’s local storage, which is not a cookie and is never sent to our servers, to remember your appearance choice (theme) and which one-time hints and checklists you have dismissed (ovz-hint-*, ovz-checklist-*). Clearing site data in your browser removes these.

4. Third-party cookies

Cloudflare Turnstile, which protects our sign-in and sign-up forms from automated abuse, may set its own tokens when a form is shown. It is strictly necessary for that protection to work. Our hosting and authentication providers may also set operational cookies; those providers control them and their own policies apply.

5. Managing cookies

Use the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page, or the Privacy and permissions section of your account settings, to change your choices at any time. Withdrawing a choice is exactly as easy as making it, and takes effect immediately.

You can also clear or block cookies in your browser settings. Disabling strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from staying signed in, and may stop parts of the service from working.

We keep a dated record of the cookie choices you make, including the wording you were shown, so that we can demonstrate we honoured them. Signed-in users can download that record from account settings.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our use of cookies changes. We will indicate the “last updated” date below and reflect material changes on this page.
